Biles and her younger sister Adria was adopted by Ronald Biles as well as Nellie Biles' grandparents in Spring Texas (in the Houston area), grew up there. Simone was interested in the sport of gymnastics as a young girl in a day-care field excursion at Bannon's Gymnastix and stayed there for 11 years, under the guidance of her coach Aimee Boorman. Biles was awarded a gold medal in floor exercises and also a bronze in vault during the Women's Junior Olympic National Championships in 2010, before advancing to the elite competition in 2011.
