Alison Maria Krauss, born July 23, 1971 is an American artist and performer. As a teenager, she first entered the world of music and was a winner of local contests as early as 10 years old and recording her first album when she was fourteen years of age. Signed by Rounder Records, her first album came out in 1987. She was invited to join the band with whom she performs Alison Krauss and Union Station and released her first album as a band in 1989.
